Slave Lake Fire Support: Update
Sunday, September 25th, 2011Urban Bridge church was one of many that responded to the devastating fire in Slave Lake, Alberta. The following is an update from our Denomination district office:
Four months have passed since the Town of Slave Lake was devastated by the wildfires that swept through the town and forced the evacuation of the 7,000+ residents. During that time, individuals and churches throughout Alberta & the NWT have helped in some way to bring about relief and assistance on the road to restoration.
Please take a moment to read this letter and update from Pastor Rodney Fortin. Let me express my heartfelt thanks to the many people and churches of our District that participated in one way or another during this disaster. It has been a wonderful expression of community and compassion in action. May God bless and direct you in continuing to respond to the needs of those you seek to reach and minister to.Rev. Tuesday, September 28th, 2010Dave Von Bieker Concert at The Carrot
Thursday, July 15th, 2010Hey Urban Bridge friends. Come out and support one of your own at The Carrot on July 23. The Carrot is Dave’s favorite venue to play, and Dave’s new MacBook is ready to work overtime. Expect some new songs, hope for some special guests, and know that beyond a shadow of a doubt, there will be a banjo present. Families welcome, too. Dave’s kids need companions (and their cover is free).

Urban Bridge Church Moves (Even More) Downtown
Monday, July 12th, 2010Hi Everyone
As you know for the past number of months we have been looking for a new location to hold our Sunday morning gatherings.
The Royal Alberta Museum has been a great venue for the past four years but recognizing that the theatre will be undergoing renovations we always knew it would not be permanent.
We have prayed, held meetings and visited a number of potential sites.
Thanks to all who joined in helping select a new site.
Effective Aug 8 our new meeting place is at MacEwan University in the CN Conference Theatre (180 seats located on the first floor of the 105th Street Building and Classroom 5-106 and 5-110).
You can get directions to MacEwan at http://www.macewan.ca/web/home/DetailsPage_secondary.cfm?id=87&MenuOption=0&utm_source=citycentrecampus&utm_medium=redirect#maps
The university is in the heart of urban Edmonton, where we want to be, and there is excellent public transit to the campus.
We have dedicated childcare space, lots of on-street parking and … we can take coffee into the theatre.
Over the next weeks we will give more updates and information for the transition.

David Wells, the General Superintendent for the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, will be joining the Urban Bridge Community as our special guest speaker on February 22.
David Wells brings an important perspective from his experience leading in many churches, and now leading the national
denomination we are blessed to be a part of. David gets to see and share the big picture of how churches across our fellowship are bridging Christ and culture.

Membership at UBC
Friday, August 31st, 2007At Urban Bridge Church, we acknowledge that there are different “spaces” of belonging. Someone may never attend our services, but follow our website and feel part of this community. They are indeed a part of us. There are others who serve us professionally and through that have built relationships with our community. They, too, belong.
For us, membership is not a way to belong. It is, rather, a step of committment to our community that one can take which allows them to be held accountable by the church more formally, and to hold us to account as well. Membership is not about belonging at all, but about committment, and all are invited to become members when they are comfortable doing so. All are also welcome to refrain from membership for as long as they wish. We refuse to create lines of demarcation with membership, but do see the importance of the accountability and committment it can provide.
If you would like to consider membership at UBC, be sure to read through our UBC Membership Information Package and Constitution Summary, as well as the PAOC Local Church Constution and Bylaws – both available in the preceeding links online, or in print at our Sunday Gatherings. If you have questions about anything therein, do not hesitate to contact us at info@urbanbridgechurch.com. We would love to talk that through with you.
